Honestly it's not a car for driving around . . . it's a car for driving over or through.

Judging from the plate in the second picture it's registered as a... (wait for it) 1993 Landcruiser 4.2 turbodiesel.

I think it most likely really is a 1993 Landcruiser under the Citroën skin. And if it is a Landcruiser the 6 cylinder 4.2 diesel is the most obvious choice. The plate checker site mentions it's got 118 kW (160 hp, 360 Nm torque), which is what the turbo version should have.

It would be really cool if the Land Cruiser's suspension was modified to be legit Citroen self-leveling.

....

Well, it's what *I'd* do...

I'd have gone for just a slightly smaller wheel size, and probably tried to incorporate a bit of Citroen character into the 4wd conversion, but it's definitely a step toward what I wanted to see. A very good step.

I think the whole bro truck thing is getting kind of sickening, yea some are tar queens will never see any mud. But others those guys put as much or more work into their trucks then any car guy, and they do it them selves we should lay off a bit, and respect their culture. Just because you don't understand it.
I guess it always Haters got to hate.

How many people could be like hey I made this, and it can do this... yea not really a bro truck but you all get the point.

Really, I was being facetious (I blue starred the first response).

I don't think it's anything to do with the vehicles themselves. I personally like a lifted and tastefully modified truck. I used to own a truck although it wasn't lifted and do drive a Land Rover Discovery quite a lot. I've done some pretty serious off roading and clearance has never been the issue for me, it's always tight turns and narrow trails. A lifted truck would have never helped me when i've needed 4WD to actually get somewhere, it would have only made it harder. This has been in Europe and the Caribbean, not the wide open spaces of the US, so it's probably not the hindrance there that it would be for me.

It's generally the attitudes and dispositions of the owners of such trucks that are the issue. Same with hipsters, what they drive is often pretty damn good, how they behave is not so good.

I totally understand there are Douche bags in every community and I appreciate your honesty and well thought reply. Your from Europe? you guys definitely cant use those there.

Just watch for em when the Zombies come, they will be helpful...

Sorry for douching it out myself it was more, I see it so much here, and was a chance to discuss it.

You have a fair point, it's something that needed to be said. There's too much hate for lifted trucks here and there's too much love for Miata. As much as I like a Miata, I abstain from the discussion as there's enough rampant fanboism going on. I do assume most people when taking shots at lifted trucks, are taking shots at the douchebags of the culture, stereotyping is just too easy and fun!

There can never be enough love for diesel wagons though. :)

Well here is some love, a very very bad example at some love, I had no idea people where doing this and you could make a tdi sound like that. Just seen a few videos with pipes on the back like that, is that a common?

I've never heard a TD sound like that. They're usually pretty quiet now, or sound like tractors. Personally, I like the tractor sound for some odd reason....

Not my area of expertise but, i'm guessing they're running it really rich, wasting a lot of diesel for the smoke and maybe a straight through exhaust for the sound?

I've never seen anyone do that around here though, people drive diesels here mainly for economy and don't really understand the other benefits. I love torque, turbos, tractor sounds and the generally more robust nature of a diesel block. The economy is the biggest selling point though, $8.16/gal for regular gas today...

I've never seen such a contraption either, and in the Netherlands everyone and their mom drive diesels as well. This whole black exhaust fumes thing seems like an American phenomenon to me.

Greetings, my fellow European Comrade.

Pollution for the sake of it is cool in the US apparently. Any time I see black smoke, automatic thought goes "oh well that doesn't look too healthy, wonder if the driver knows...".

In the US, I imagine it goes something like "FUCK YEAH, ROLLIN COAL BRO!" for some people at least.

I have to retract a part of my previous statement though. I've seen multiple youtube clips of Scandinavians with old Volvos or Mercs with huge clouds of black smoke from the exhaust, usually on a track and not on a public road. I've never witnessed it in real life, and I'm quite sure cars like these wouldn't pass inspection anyway.

Kinja'd!!! dieselwagon > duurtlang
10/08/2013 at 14:53

Certainly wouldn't pass inspection in the UK. The Scandinavians are pretty crazy, if you're racing and there's a performance benefit it's more understandable. Very few of the rollin' coal trucks i've seen videos and pics of from the US look like they're used for anything other than being douchey.
